20 to 25 Sept – President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will travel to New York to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
She will take part in some high-level meetings during the UN General Assembly: ⁃ High-level dialogue on protecting children’s rights in the context of artificial intelligence, alongside the leaders of France, Kenya, Spain and Australia;
⁃ Co-hosting the OceanEye International Alliance Pledging event with the Prime Minister of Canada;
⁃ Participation in the High-level Meeting on Climate Action;
⁃ Summit in Support of Multilateralism, hosted by the Presidents of Kenya and the European Council and the Prime Minister of Canada.
21-23 Sept. – Members from the Subcommittee on Tax Matters of the European Parliament will travel to Washington DC and Delaware, USA to discuss EU-US relations in the field of taxation and progress at global level on various tax issues. In Delaware, Members will look into the state’s corporate legal system as well as into what it is doing to combat tax evasion and tax avoidance.
28 Sept. Brussels – Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification, will host the Implementation dialogue “From recommendations to implementation: how does the European Semester impact policies on the ground?”.
28 Sept. – Foreign Affairs Council (Defense)
• informal address by Evgeniy Khmara, Minister of Defence of Ukraine
• the Council will focus on topics such as air defense and countering the shadow fleet
• exchange views about hybrid threats and the situation in the Middle East.
30 Sept. – College of Commissioners expected to adopt European critical communication system (a modern, secure, and interoperable communication capability system that enhances the communication and coordination of emergency services and public safety organizations during crises and disasters)
1 Oct. Brussels, 08:45 – 18:00 (CEST) – Citizens’ Energy Forum – The Forum will bring together a wide range of local stakeholders, including NGOs, cities, energy communities, energy agencies, consumer associations, businesses, and citizens.The event will put focus on experiences and solutions from across Europe and from regions that are particularly impacted by the energy transition. The event will be “in person, but also web-streamed, with the possibility for the onsite and online audience to engage”.
